Tara DeAguilera
Shelter Liaison
About Me
Tara Deaguilera serves as the Shelter Liaison for A HOPE, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to animal welfare. Her career began in the veterinary field before transitioning to shelter work, where she has thrived in various roles. Currently, she is the Volunteer Coordinator for Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS), managing adoption-focused community events, and rescue coordination. Tara is also instrumental in securing critical funding for SRCAS, including multiple grants from Petco Love and Florida Animal Friend.
Tara holds certifications in Fear Free Training and as a Euthanasia Technician (ET), and she has completed the Best Friends Animal Society mentorship program for grant writing. Her dedication to education shines through in her work with annual school animal education programs, where she inspires the next generation to care for animals and their community.
In addition to her professional contributions, Tara has a history of leadership as a former board member of the Pensacola Roller Gurlz, a local roller derby team, and as a current member of Friends of SRCAS. She is passionate about addressing pet overpopulation by promoting affordable spay/neuter services and empowering pet owners to be part of the solution.
At home, Tara enjoys the company of her rescue dogs—Petunia the Mastiff and Jake the Rottweiler—and frequently fosters animals, embracing the delightful chaos they bring.
Tara is honored to have witnessed A HOPE's evolution, from its beginnings as a small idea to a transformative force in animal welfare. She is excited to support its mission and looks forward to the lasting impact it will have on the future of animals in the community.
